Louie the dog is a true hero.

A sheepdog living with Marolyn Diver’s parents in New Zealand, Louie is a kind dog that loves to explore. Living on farmland gives him a world of property to wander about.

Now that Louie is 12, he does not venture quite as far as he used to.

When he was nowhere to be found while Marolyn came to visit, something seemed wrong.

“My mother was a little grumpy as she had thought he had stopped his wandering,” Marolyn tells The Dodo. “We worried he might forget where his home was.”

What really happened was nothing anyone could have predicted…

Louie was saving another dog’s life.

Louie came wandering back toward the house – with a note attached to his collar.

“He looked so exhausted, and had basically just collapsed,” Marolyn says. “We were concerned someone might have hurt him. But after reading the note I felt complete and utter relief, then my heart melted.”

The note read:

“[Louie] is the hero of the day. He led me to Maddy in distress stuck under a branch pile. Cheers, Rob.”

Rob and Maddy, his dog, live only a mile from Marolyn’s parents’.  The family called Rob to learn more about what Louie had done.

As it turns out, Maddy had been missing. When Rob came home from running errands, he could not locate her. Louie was there, begging Rob to follow him.

Rob began to follow Louie, and was lead right to the woodpile in which Maddy was stuck.

“Rob said he was 100 percent sure that Louie knew what he was doing, and getting Rob to Maddy was his one pure focus,” Marolyn explained. “Once he found her, Louie helped Rob dig her out, pulling at branches, digging out the ground. Rob said the second she was free both dogs ran to a nearby pond and jumped into it exhausted and drinking water. He then gave Louie a huge handful of dog biscuits as a thank you. He knew Louie might get in trouble for being late home, so he thought he would write a small note to explain his absence.”

Louie saved Maddy’s life!

Unfortunately, all of this work was hard on Louie.

“That night we were very worried about Louie. He could hardly walk and looked terrible,” Marolyn says. “We were scared that he might not make it through the night.”

Then, a visitor changed everything.

“The next morning Rob came over on his bike with Maddy in a wee basket in the back,” Marolyn says. “Louie perked up and was back to normal.”

Marolyn and her family love Louie, and have more reasons to love him with every passing day.

“It has changed the way I look at him. And I think my parents feel the same way,” Marolyn says. “I’m so proud of him.”

And Maddy, of course, is proud of Louie too!

The usual style looks like this:

Jin Jin was scheduled for his next cut with the groomer, but Qian was very busy. Like anyone would, she decided to have a friend drop off Jin Jin with the groomer. No big deal, right?

Apparently, there was a slight mix-up on what kind of haircut Jin Jin was to get. The outcome made Jin Jin look like he was wearing a cat mask!

Qian came to pick up Jin Jin and was a bit surprised to say the least…

“I was surprised the groomer would shave him like that. I can’t be blamed for it,” Qian said to The Dodo. The look was so amusing, she couldn’t help but laugh.

Qian’s husband was not very happy with the new look once Jin Jin came home, but he too found himself laughing.

While the haircut was certainly not the best, Jin Jin did not seem to care at all.

“My cat is a very tame and good cat,” said Qian.

Luckily, Jin Jin’s hair has been growing back to normal. Time fixes hair tragedies!

Jin Jin is looking like a cat again – not just like he’s wearing a cat mask!

It’s okay Jin Jin, we all have a bad haircut at some point.

Thor, a Great Dane puppy, knows he needs lots of sleep while he is a growing boy – and goodness knows he has quite a lot of growing to do! Just look at his large paws!

This family owns a bagel factory in Birmingham MI and wakes up bright and early at 3:30.

Thor would like to stay in bed, but his human thinks otherwise!

When it is wake up time for Thor, he is trying to hit the snooze button (though his human won’t let that slide). We can all relate, Thor!

How deeply do dogs care for their owners?

Tony, a very loyal pup, was very upset when he thought he had seen his owner for the last time.

On May 13th, Jesus Hueche, Tony’s owner, took a rough fall. While pruning a tree in Argentina, he fell six feet onto the concrete. His head hit the ground, knocking him unconscious.

Paramedics arrived and found Hueche with Tony right by his side.

He wasn’t going to leave his owner.

The paramedics placed a neck brace on Hueche, and Tony still would not leave his owner.

He was very worried!

When Hueche finally came into consciousness, he let Tony know he was going to be okay. Poor Tony never knew if his owner would wake up at all!

When Hueche was lifted into an ambulance, Tony tried hard to climb inside with his owner. He never wanted to be separated from the person he cares about most.

Thankfully, Hueche’s injuries were not serious and he was able to be released from the hospital after a short period of time. Tony was so happy!

For good reason, Tony and Hueche’s story spread across social media. The bond between dog and owner is a two way street of pure love!

After the incident, Hueche reflected on when he adopted Tony. “One day we saw him on the street and adopted him, gave him love, food and is part of our family,” Hueche told La Brujula 24. “For me he’s like a son.”

Hueche loves Tony, and Tony loves his dad!

She has medical issues that include blindness, difficulty with eating, and anxiety. Polly is severely underweight and has neurological problems as well.

Sometimes, Polly would end up going all around the house and sucking on the walls in the corners. Whenever Polly could not find her owner, she would cry and feel very upset. Her anxious behaviors consumed much of her life.

Leanna Lauricella, the woman that runs Goats of Anarchy, decided to head to Marshalls around Halloween. There she spotted a duck costume in the children’s section and her first thought was Polly.

Lauricella simply thought that the duck costume would look cute, but had no idea how much good it would end up doing for Polly.

When Lauricella brought home the duck costume an amazing thing happened – it calmed down Polly! As soon as the costume went on, Polly’s anxiety was gone. She even managed to fall asleep once the duck costume was on.

“There’s something about that duck costume that calms her,” Lauricella said. “She goes into a little trance. She just closes her eyes and she’s out.”

From now on, whenever little Polly suffers from an anxiety attack, Lauricella puts on the duck costume and instantly brings Polly back to feeling comfortable.

Polly goes out and about with Lauricella, including to the local stores. On occasion, Polly will even fall asleep in the shopping cart when she’s in her duck costume!

Lauricella has gathered more costumes for Polly, however the duck is still Polly’s favorite one. The pig and fox costumes look absolutely precious, though!

Lauricella says that Polly will grow more, and most likely outgrow her favorite duck costume. That’s when another great thing happened…

Another rescue goat from Goats of Anarchy that is handicapped came into the picture. Lauricella decided to try putting Pocket on Polly’s back. He wrapped himself around her and cozied up…

…and Polly was able to fall asleep! Pocket was just like the duck suit for her. Polly just needs comfort and love.

By no surprise, Popeye fit right into the mix and the entire family fell in love with him.

One of Diep’s friends suggested she make an Instagram account for Popeye, in order to show the world just how cute he is.

Upon doing so, Diep realized how cute it would be to take her and the dog on Instagram dates.

Diep and Popeye head to various restaurants, and she takes pictures of him with some of the tasty food at the restaurant.

When possible, Diep lets Popeye have whatever is safe and available for him to eat, however when there are no options she has a big bag of treats at the ready.

Popeye is super well behaved whenever he is in the restaurants.

Popeye’s Instagram has over 108,000 followers now, and it is no surprise with such a cute face. He’s the cutest foodie out there!

Lucy is the world’s tiniest working dog! She is a whopping 2.5 pounds, and 5.7 inches in height! Lucy’s tiny size has earned her a Guinness World Record.

She is a wonderful therapy dog for elderly and disabled individuals. Look how precious she is (but remember, she’s hard at work!).

One day, a man posted a status on Facebook about giving away a mother dog and her litter of nine puppies.

The mother dog was four years old, and this was her third litter of puppies…but the first litter to actually survive.

The local community responded to the man’s post and worked hard to adopt and save all of the dogs! Their first action was to call the Faithful Friends Animal Sanctuary as well as Mr. Bones & Co.

They believed the dog, Nana, put her litter of puppies in a hole dug in the dirt, in order to keep them safe and comfortable.

The Faithful Friends Animal Sanctuary brought in the puppies and mother. The puppies were steadily weaned so that they could head to Mr. Bones & Co. in New York City.

Because of how much loss Nana has experienced, she was very protective of her little pups. In order to make the entire family feel safe, all of the staff members worked to do everything they could!

Of course, the staff decided to name the puppies. The theme choice? Peter Pan. The puppies were named: Peter Pan, Tinkerbell, Tiger Lily, Wendy, John, Cubby, Liza, and Jane.

The puppies have grown much older…

And took a journey to New Jersey in order to head to Pilots N Paws, where Mr. Bones & Co. would be retrieving them and driving them to New York.

The nine puppies were driven to their new foster homes. Nana rode in the car with them, and steadily became very tired. For the first time in a long time, she was able to relax and feel safe.

All ten dogs are enjoying life in their new homes! Nana’s foster family is interested in adopting her. The hectic journey was all worthwhile.
