Mason had never realized the danger pools posed for frogs, so he decided to dive into some research. He found that there were other pool owners seeking advice online about frogs and other animals drowning in their pools!

“There was no real research about this though … I was pretty surprised,” Mason said.

Somehow the frogs were leaping and swimming, but could not find a way out of the pool. Other animals were falling victim to this as well.

“Pretty much any animal that walks around a suburban neighborhood could fall into a pool eventually,” Mason said.

When Mason looked into how many pools are installed each year, his concern grew. With millions of pools in existence and 100,000 being built each year, many wild animals could lose their lives.

Mason knew he had to find a solution: “I said, ‘OK, let’s see if we can come up with something to fix this problem.’”

He headed into his garage and began crafting. He found scrap foam and broke out the sewing machine…

He created an initial model and had his concerned friends try things out. Suddenly, he was making quite a few.

“I bought some foam and made more devices and got feedback from more friends,” Mason said. “It was pretty altruistic, just about helping animals.”

Where Mason’s FrogLog was installed, pools were clear of surfaced animals. Even after frog activity overnight, the pools had lost no friends come morning.

Mason ended up making a few hundred FrogLogs each year, all on his own. He was strictly worried about the well-being of animals!

Finally, the FrogLog became official and available to all those in need.

“The good part is we get such great feedback from people, really passionate emails saying this is the best thing since sliced bread,” Mason said.

“It was such a relief to not find dead frogs in the pool’s filtration basket, or floating on the surface,” a Connecticut resident expressed. “I also had a resident bullfrog who lived comfortably in the pool, would haul out on the FrogLog for a rest, and use it to get into and out of the pool whenever he wished.”

Another FrogLog user saw new ducklings using the FrogLog as a place to relax and rest. It has helped so many different animals!

“I had my doubts when my husband ordered this,” one woman from Ontario wrote, “but then I saw a baby Eastern fox snake use it to get out of our pool. This snake is an endangered species.”

While helping clean a local garden in the community, Craig Mcgettrick noticed something unusual…

A litter of puppies were sitting in the garden – without a mother in sight! Craig and his friend Beccie placed the puppies in a cardboard box and brought them to a rescue facility in the area called Freshfields Animal Rescue. To seek help for the puppies, the two even put photos on Facebook.

The photos on Facebook began to spread quickly, and then a notification came that changed things…

The founder of the National Fox Welfare Society, Martin Hemmington, explained that these puppies were not puppies at all – they were fox cubs!

Hemmington posted on a later Facebook post that:

“We were contacted by a lovely lady called Beccie through our Facebook Page; Beccie had sent a few photos asking if the babies in the photos were indeed fox cubs. We confirmed they certainly were. Beccie advised us that they had been taken to a rescue center in Liverpool mistakenly as puppies, not fox cubs.”

People were still a bit confused as to why the cubs were all alone. Hemmington’s expertise shed light on the subject. He explained:

“Vixens leave their cubs all the time whilst they are in the den, and as they get older they’ll begin to explore their surroundings more and more, and become less dependent on mum as they get older”

The fox cubs needed their mother, and Hemmington stepped in to help bring the family back together.

“I didn’t give the cubs any milk in order for them to be hungry so they’d cry out and call for their mum, which they did,” Hemmington said.

“I put them around the same place they were found, as I knew the mum would be looking for them, and she’d be checking the place she last had them.”

He went on to say, “I believe once she’d picked the first one up and knew the others were safe in the box, she waited until it got dark to get the rest as she must not have felt safe moving the cubs in daylight.”

The cubs were back with their mother by the end of the night, thanks to all of the people that helped in the situation. Such an unusual mistake fixed right away!

But she had some issues at first. She developed a very allergic reaction to the milk. So a home made special formula was needed and given. And thanks to round-the-clock care from the sanctuary staff she began to recover.

But she wasn’t completely energetic and showing happiness. Until they introduced a former service Canine – German Shepherd to her. They quickly became best friends!

Watch this unlikely friendship and amazing story. It’s still unclear what will happen with her, but right now she is happy and well taken care of!

Steve is an orange tabby cat, with a strong following!

Here in New Zealand, Steve has a flock of lambs that are extremely loyal to him.

Steve the cat began his life as a typical, indoor pet.  When his family decided to adopt a bunch of baby lambs, the cat saw his opportunity to lead a more exciting life.

When Steve’s owners, Amanda Whitlock and partner, originally took in the lambs, they were greatly in need of a leader.  Steve quickly stepped up to the plate, becoming the official leader of the pack!

Steve will wander around the yard, and the lambs will follow him to and fro.  No matter what he’s doing, all the lambs need to know.

Rajang showed adoration for Kayley and began to try and play with the baby bump through the glass separating them. He kisses the glass and even sheds a tear.

The orangutan showed just how widespread paternal affection can be. The love of a child does not only exist with humans.

Apparently, Rajang has shown this compassion to others in pregnancy, including Maisie Knight.

Poor Rajang never experienced much in the way of motherly love, as he was only a month old when he lost his mother. He was hand-reared by zookeepers, and showed them kindness throughout his entire life at the Colchester Zoo. He’s a very intelligent, loving orangutan.

Kayley and Kieren will never forget this experience.

In fact, the family has been back since Kayley has given birth – in order to show Rajang the baby he knew was on the way!

The rabbit was very young when he was rescued – so young that his umbilical cord was still attached. While he was very weak, and many did not expect to see him survive, the rabbit pushed through and persevered.

Less than two weeks later, the foundation found out about a pigeon’s nest desperately in need of assistance. In the nest, a chick was helpless. With the chick sat an unfortunate egg that was unable to survive. By some miracle, the chick was mostly unharmed when the nest fell.

When rescuers took in the chick, the rabbit still needed use of the incubator. In order to combat this issue, the rescuers decided to create a miniature wall to divide the two animals.

Very quickly the two rescued animals tore down their diving wall, and sought solace in each other.

 The two find comfort and companionship in each other.

At the Kildare Animal Foundation Wildlife Unit, they decided to name the rabbit Bunny and the pigeon Pidg.

Together, the two feel invincible. Together they grow and prosper.

When the two are well, they will be able to go back into their natural habitats, however, in the meantime they can be friends and cherish each other through this challenging time.

Juniper and Moose are both rescued animals. Their human mom, Jessika, brought home the dog at a young age.  Juniper warmed up to Moose right away, and hasn’t left his side since.

The two snuggle and play together – with Juniper initiating, well, all of it!

Juniper shows Moose just how much she loves him by plopping herself on Moose.  The fox can always be found lying all over her doggy companion.

Foxes put their little butts on the things they wish to claim, and it seems Juniper wants Moose to be her best friend forever! The pair are simply too cute to ignore.

Tiny babies needed love and medicine quickly…

Maldonado planned on surrendering the little opossums over to a rescue center that rehabilitates wildlife. But they were too crowded to accept anymore wildlife.

Maldonado knew that without proper care, these opossums may not survive. Maldonado took on the task of caring for these young joeys. Maldonado fed them every 2 hours and kept them comfortable.

She worried she wasn’t giving the opossums the proper motherly attention they needed. That’s when Maldonado’s dog, Prethina, jumped right in and began caring for the baby opossums. Prethina even nursed the orphaned baby opossums!

Prethina even poses for pictures with the opossums, sporting a huge grin. Thanks to Prethina’s care, the tiny opossums began to regain their strength.

Once the opossums regained their strength, they did what any baby opossum does! The tiny babies began climbing up Prethina’s back and hitching a ride! Just look at them!

Although the baby opossums behavior is far from puppy behavior, Prethina doesn’t seem to mind. Prethina gives opossum piggyback rides even during walks.

A month ago these opossum’s were left to die. But thanks to Prethina’s instincts, these once orphaned baby opossums are thriving with a new mommy!

Prethina still cares for the opossums. Once Prethina’s duties have ended Maldonado hopes to release them back into the wild. Giving these once orphaned opossums a chance to live a happy life!
