Last Tuesday, a pharmacist and amateur photographer, named Scott Black, was leaving work after a long 14 hour day. Flood waters had kept him stuck in the office longer than he had intended.
Upon leaving, Black encountered something he did not expect.

A pickup truck in the parking lot Black had been in approached him. The driver of the truck was someone Black had encountered at the gas station around town. The man stopped black and informed him that he should come look at the backseat of the man’s truck…

Inside was a precious baby deer. The fawn had been rescued from the flooding, but the rescuer was unable to help the deer any further. The men in the truck had been surveying roads when they came across the rescuer that had gotten the deer.

The little fawn had gotten surprisingly comfortable on the lap of one of the men in the truck.

Black grabbed his camera and took a multitude of photos of this adorable deer. Black said that while the flood situation made for a rather serious tone, the baby deer provided a momentarily warmth of heart.

Black says he wishes he had gotten to take more images of the flooding. Many moments of strong community deserved to be documented. The community came to help human and animal alike. Black would like to have had the chance to photograph each and every one of these beautiful moments.

Last Friday, Black ran into the men that he had seen in the truck that day. The men informed Black that the deer had been brought to a local farm where it was bottle fed and cared for. Apparently, the deer was doing well so far!

Thank you Scott Black for these incredible photos.
